for qualified installers
In workshops or other areas in which the
odour of waste gases, oil, petrol, etc. might
occur, or in which work is carried out involv-
ing solvents and chemicals, there is a risk of
sustained odour burdens being engendered,
and possibly of dirt contamination occurring.
• The appliance should only be installed on a
vertical wall resistant to temperatures above
90 °C
To avoid danger to very small children,
!
the unit must be installed so that the
lowest crossbar is at least 600 mm above
the floor!
• The installation wall must have sufficient
load-bearing capacity (appliance weight, see
"Specifications").
• Observe the minimum distances from ad-
joining surfaces of objects.
• The appliance should not be installed im-
mediately below a wall socket.
• All electrical connection and installation
work must be carried out in accordance
with the VDE regulations (0100), the regula-
tions of the competent water and electricity
supply companies as well as the appropriate
national and regional regulations.
• Follow the rating plate. The stated voltage
must be in accordance with the mains voltage.

BHC 175
• The unit is to be fitted in such a way that
switching and control devices cannot be
touched by anyone in the bath or under the
shower.
• If it needs replacing, the power supply cable
must only be replaced with an original
Stiebel Eltron spare by a qualified installer.
• The appliance must in any case be filled with
water. Operating the appliance electrically
without filling it will destroy the appliance.
• The connection of the bath/towel heating
elements to the central heating system may
not allow the free expansion of the water
content of the bath/towel heating element
to the expansion vessel if the thermostatic
valve is closed. If the valve is installed in the
return flow, then it must be ensured that this
can only be operated by means of a tool so
that the unauthorised closure of the valve is
prevented. When using the electrical direct
heating element (summer operation) this
valve may under no circumstances be closed.

2.3 Use of the Unit

If the bathroom heater is operated electrically
only, it must be installed without connecting
the feed and return connectors for the central
heating system, depending on the unit type
concerned.
If the bathroom heater is to be connected
to the central heating system, before instal-
lation the factory-filled heat carrier medium
(required for purely electrical operation) must
be drained.
