Operation with battery pack
Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the
u
power source must match the voltage specified on the
rating plate of the charger.
Charge the battery pack (6) before using for the first time.
The battery pack can only be charged with the charger (17)
intended for it.
Insert the appropriate mains plug (16) for your mains supply
into the charger (17) and allow it to engage.
Insert the charging connector (15) of the charger into the
charging socket (10) of the battery pack (6). Connect the
battery charger to the mains supply.
Charging the empty battery pack takes approx. 14 hours.
The charger and battery pack are protected against over-
charging.
A battery that is new or has not been used for a longer period
does not develop its full capacity until after approx. 5 char-
ging/discharging cycles.
Do not recharge the battery pack (6) after each use, as this
will reduce its capacity. Recharge the battery pack only
when the battery warning (11) flashes or lights up continu-
ously.
A considerably reduced operating period after charging in-
dicates that the battery pack is used up and must be re-
placed.
If the battery pack is empty, the measuring tool can also be
operated using the charger (17) when connected to the
mains supply. Switch the measuring tool off, charge the bat-
tery pack for approx. 10 minutes and then switch the meas-
uring tool on again with the battery charger connected.
To change the battery pack (6), turn the locking
mechanism (9) to position
and pull the battery pack out
of the measuring tool. Push a new battery pack into the
measuring tool and turn the locking mechanism (9) to posi-
tion .
Take the battery pack out of the measuring tool if you
u
do not intend to use the tool for a long time. Batteries
can corrode or self-discharge during prolonged storage in
the measuring tool.
Charge-control indicator
When the battery warning (11) flashes red for the first time,
the measuring tool can still be operated for approx. 2 hours.
When the battery warning (11) lights up red continuously,
no further measurements can be taken. The measuring tool
switches off automatically after 1 minute.
Power supply of the laser receiver
Inserting/changing the battery
Alkali-manganese batteries are recommended for the laser
receiver.
Pull the locking mechanism (18) of the battery compartment
cover outwards and lift up the battery compartment cover
(29). Insert the battery.
Bosch Power Tools
When inserting the batteries, ensure that the polarity is cor-
rect according to the illustration on the inside of the battery
compartment.
When the battery warning (b) first appears on the display
(25), the laser receiver can still be operated for approx.
3 hours.
Take the battery out of the laser receiver when you
u
are not using it for a prolonged period of time. When it
is stored in the laser receiver for longer periods, the bat-
tery can corrode and discharge itself.
Operation
Keep the measuring tool and the laser receiver dry
u
and protect them from direct sunlight.
Do not expose the measuring tool and the laser re-
u
ceiver to extreme temperatures or variations in tem-
perature. For example, do not leave them in a car for ex-
tended periods of time. In case of large variations in tem-
perature, allow the measuring tool and the laser receiver
to adjust to the ambient temperature before putting them
into operation. Before continuing work with the measur-
ing tool, always perform an accuracy check (see "Accur-
acy Check of the Measuring Tool", page 23).
The precision of the measuring tool and the laser receiver
may be compromised if exposed to extreme temperat-
ures or variations in temperature.
Avoid substantial knocks to the measuring tool and
u
avoid dropping it. Always carry out an accuracy check
before continuing work if the measuring tool has been
subjected to severe external influences (see "Accuracy
Check of the Measuring Tool", page 23).
Keep the work area free from obstacles that could re-
u
flect or obstruct the laser beam. For example, cover
any reflective or shiny surfaces. Do not measure
through panes of glass or similar materials. The meas-
urements may be distorted by a reflected or obstructed
laser beam.
Starting Operation of the rotary laser
Setting up the measuring tool
Place the measuring tool on a
stable surface in the hori-
zontal position or mount it on
the tripod (31).
Due to its high levelling accuracy, the measuring tool is very
sensitive to knocks and vibrations and changes in position.
Take care, therefore, that the measuring tool is stable to
avoid interruptions to the operation caused by relevelling.
Switching On and Off
To switch on the measuring tool, press the on/off
button (4). All indicators light up briefly. The measuring tool
emits the variable laser beam (2) from the outlet
aperture (1).
