ENGL IS H
REASSEMBLING THE JAY GS CUSHION AFTER
CLEANING
1. Replace any accessories on foam base (if used).
Attach fluid pad to foam base along one side, on
Velcro®attachment strip. Secure pad at center along
Velcro®strip. Then attach the second side, same as
first. The split in the front of the fluid pad should be
attached evenly to the center Velcro strip. If using
the (7.5 cm) Medial Thigh Support (leg abductor),
the fluid pad should be attached to the sides of the
accessory.
2. Check for bottoming out as described previously.
3. Pull the front of the cover over the Cushion first, then
stretch the back corners down around the base.
4. Examine the top of the cover to ensure proper fit.
5. The cover should not hammock between
accessories.
CAUTION
•
Use JAY covers only.
•
The use of an improper cover can adversely affect
the performance of the JAY GS Cushion.
•
Use only JAY-designed covers in conjunction with
the JAY GS Cushion. (Do not use additional covers
over the JAY GS Cover).
If the client is not incontinent, we recommend the
optional perspiration-reducing AirExchange™ cover for
use in warm conditions.
Incontinence-resistant covers are provided standard
so that the cushion does not have to be washed after
accidental spills.
NOTE:
Even a snug fitting cover will leave extra "tucks" of
fabric under the client's buttocks. This extra material will
ensure total fit of the cover without tension against the
buttocks

BASE MODIFICATIONS

•
Rail cutouts for dropped or angled seats.
•
Back corner cutouts to recess between the upright posts
of the wheelchair.
•
Specialized needs as requested.
CAUTION
•
The standard JAY GS Cushion is designed primarily to
provide a high degree of postural control and comfort.
•
If the client is at risk for skin breakdown and pressure
relief is a concern, the GS Pressure Relief Pad should be
used.
•
Persons at high risk of skin breakdown should be
thoroughly evaluated by a therapist prior to purchasing
the GS Cushion.
•
The JAY GS Cushion is no substitute for good skin care,
including proper diet and cleanliness.
•
Any cushion should be tried for a few hours while a
therapist or doctor inspects the skin to ensure that red
pressure spots are not developing.
•
If the skin develops redness, discontinue the use of the
cushion and consult with a doctor or therapist.
•
Avoid sharp objects or exposure to excessive heat or
open flame.
•
If the cushion is left outside overnight at temperatures
below 40° F (5° C), allow the cushion to warm to room
temperature before using. Sitting on excessively hot or
cold surfaces may cause skin damage.
