DESCRIPTION
You have just bought the EXTEL converter. You can now operate your low and high power appliances using 220/240V from a 12V
source such as a 12V
battery for example.
It is important to choose the converter according to the continuous output of your appliances. This portable converter allows you
to use your appliances with 230V wherever you go.
3
USAGE
a. Installing:
1. Connect the converter to a 12V
rectly matched).
2. Press the ON button on the converter and wait for the indicator light to come on. (this indicator is lit by a self-check circuit built
into the converter and indicates that the converter is operating normally).
3. Connect the 220/240V appliance you wish to run to the 220/240V socket on the converter.
4. Switch on the appliance.
b. Precautions:
1. Appliance power: Never connect appliances with a total power greater than the continuous output specified for each of the
converters (see table of technical data (pages 2GB)). The protection circuit built into the converter will automatically cut off the
power in the event of an overload and will restart once the overload has ceased. Not all converters of less than 600W can be used
with high-power appliances and/or appliances producing heat such as hair-driers, micro-wave ovens, toasters, etc.
2. Do not connect fluorescent lamps.
3. Low voltage status: If the input voltage falls to 10.5V, the audible alarm on the converter sounds indicating that the battery is not
supplying much energy. In this case you must stop using it. If power continues to be taken from the battery the output voltage will
automatically be cut if the input voltage falls below 10V. This will avoid completely discharging the battery.
4. Battery polarity: The input polarities on a cigarette lighter plug are positioned as follows:
-The negative on the sides of the male plug.
-The positive on the end of the male plug.
This converter must be used in a vehicle fitted with a cigarette lighter which has a positive pole at the bottom.
Warning, do not reverse the polarities when directly connecting a 12V

battery or to a vehicle cigarette lighter (ensure the negative and positive polarities are cor-
