The PARL-10DMX is adjusted for the control
via a DMX lighting console, however, no DMX
signal is available at the DMX input (12).
Either adjust a control programme with the
button UP or DOWN or make the connection
to a light controller and switch on the con-
troller (
5.2 Interconnection of
several PARL-10DMX units
Several PARL-10DMX units may be interconnected
(master-slave operation). Then all slave units can be
controlled in sync with the master unit.
1) Connect the DMX OUTPUT (13) of the master unit
via a 3-pole XLR cable (e. g. series MEC-... or
MECN-... from the product range of "img Stage
Line") to the DMX INPUT (12) of the first slave unit.
2) Connect the DMX OUTPUT of the first slave unit to
the DMX INPUT of the second slave unit, etc. until
all units have been connected in a chain.
3) No DMX signal must be present at the DMX INPUT
of the master unit. Adjust the slave units to the DMX
address 001:
a) Press the button FUNC (7) so many times until
the display (5) shows and the number behind it
flashes.
b) Use button DOWN or UP to adjust the address
001.
c) To memorize, press the button ENT. Once the
control signals from the master unit are applied
to the slave units, they are controlled by the mas-
ter unit.
5.3 Operation via a light controller
For operation via a light controller with DMX512 proto-
col (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB by "img Stage
Line"), the PARL-10DMX is equipped with four DMX
control channels. The functions of the channels and
the DMX values can be found in chapter 7.1.
5.3.1 DMX connection
For the DMX connection, the unit is provided with 3-
pole XLR jacks of the following pin configuration:
Pin 1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
For connection, special cables for high data flow
should be used. Standard microphone cables with
screening and a minimum cross section of 2 ×
0,22 mm
2
and with a capacity as low as possible can
only be recommended for a total cable length of up to
100 m. For cable lengths exceeding 150 m it is recom-
mended to insert a DMX level matching amplifier (e. g.
SR-103DMX by "img Stage Line").

chapter 5.3).
1) Connect the DMX INPUT (12) to the DMX output of
the light controller.
2) Connect the DMX OUTPUT (13) to the DMX input
of the following light effect unit; connect its output
again to the input of the following unit, etc. until all
light effect units have been connected in a chain.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX unit in
the chain with a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W): Solder the
resistor to the pins 2 and 3 of an XLR plug and con-
nect the plug to the DMX output or use a corre-
sponding terminating plug (e. g. DLT-123 by "img
Stage Line").
5.3.2 Adjusting the start address
To be able to operate the spotlight with a light con-
troller, adjust the DMX start address for the first DMX
channel. If e. g. address 17 on the DMX controller is
provided for controlling the red LEDs, adjust the start
address 17 on the spotlight. The other DMX functions
of the spotlight are automatically assigned to the fol-
lowing addresses (in this example 18, 19 and 20). The
address 21 could be used in this example as the next
possible start address for the following DMX-controlled
unit.
1) Press button FUNC (7) so many times until the dis-
play (5) shows
and the number behind it flashes.
2) Use button DOWN or UP to adjust the address.
3) To memorize, press the button ENT. The spotlight
returns to the previous function mode. The display
shows the mode (
5.3.3 DMX control
To be able to operate the spotlight with the DMX con-
troller, the display must show
address. If not, press the button UP (7) as many times
as required. However, if the indication
the display, the spotlight is in the DMX control mode,
however, no DMX control signal is available at the jack
DMX INPUT (12).
6 Cleaning the Unit
The plastic pane in front of the LEDs should be
cleaned at regular intervals from the outside, depend-
ing on impurities caused by dust, smoke or other par-
ticles. Only this will ensure that the light is radiated at
maximum brightness. For cleaning, disconnect the
mains plug from the socket. Only use a soft, clean
cloth and a mild detergent. Then wipe the plastic pane
dry.
For cleaning the other parts of the housing, only use
a soft, clean cloth. Never use any fluid; it may leak into
the unit and cause damage.
