Aftercharge
Aftercharge is used to charge the bat-
tery up to 100 % of the full capacity.
The voltage is raised by
0.4 V compared to Basic charging.
Test
The test checks the battery for dam-
ages.
Maintenance
Maintenance is intended to sustain
100 % battery output over a long time.
The battery charger measures con-
tinuously the voltage. If it falls below
12.6 / 25.2 V charging starts anew.
Intensive operation
Intensive operation is used to boost
charging the battery after it was
deeply discharged.
This charging mode has been devel-
oped as Intensive boostcharge. The
battery is intensively charged with
maximum current for one hour and
then tested to ensure that it is ready for
normal charging. If the battery voltage
is not sufficient for normal charging,
intensive charging continues.
This process is repeated four times.
If the battery is still not sufficiently
charged, an error message is dis-
played.
Note
To activate the battery it must be con-
nected.
Please keep in mind that spark
protection is not active in
supply mode.

Error messages

Flashing warning light
Terminals are not connected to the battery.

Supply cord is not connected or supply switch
■
not switched on.
Supply overload, i.e. voltage drop due to
■
charging with a current above the nominal value
(8/15/30 A).
Warning light continually illuminating
Prior to charging
Overvoltage; e.g. if the 12 V charger is con-
■
nected to a 24 V battery.
Short circuit of terminals.
■
Incorrect polarity of the terminals (e.g. positive
■
terminal connected with negative or vice versa).
During charging:
The battery cannot be charged within the time
■
preset in the safety timer. If the battery capacity
is larger than the recommended maximum
capacity, repeated charging may be helpful. If
the warning light illuminates during charging, try
to use the Boost mode (intensive charging).
If the display of the battery tester
does not anything, this may be for
one of the two reasons
The battery in the vehicle is deeply discharged.

nection.
LED light (fig. V)
The battery charger is equipped with LEDs which
can be used as working light when charging in a
dark room.
A button cell supplies the LED with power. The light-
ing is thus independent from the mains supply.
The button cell (item no. 0827 081 620) can be
changed after the LED housing has been removed.
