6.4- Troubleshooting
PROBLEM
Fails to split logs
The log pusher moves
jerkily,
with
unusual
sound or vibrating a lot
Oil leaks around cylinder
ram or from other points.
Motor does not start
Log Splitter does not
work while motor
running
6.5- Servicing and cleaning
- Clean the machine thoroughly after each use!
- Two-hand guards: the combined clamping and control device must remain running smooth.
Lubricate occasionally with a few drops of oil.
- Moving parts: keep the splitting knife (wedge) guides clean. Lubricate the sliding rails with oil
spray or lubricating grease.
- Splitting knife (wedge): the splitting knife must be slightly lubricated before operation. This
procedure must be repeated after every 5 hours of use. Lightly apply grease or spray oil onto the
edge and lateral surfaces. The splitting knife must not run dry. Keep the splitting knife edge clean
PROBABLE CAUSE
Log is improperly positioned
The sizes or hardness of the log.
exceeds the capacity of the machine
Wedge cutting edge is dull
Oil leaks
Unauthorized adjustment was made
on Max. Pressure Limiting Screw.
Lower max pressure rating was set.
Lack of hydraulic oil and excessive
air in the hydraulic system.
Air trapped in hydraulic system
while operating.
Dipstick cap is not tightened
before moving the log splitter.
Oil drain plug is not tight.
Hydraulic Control Valve Assembly
and / or seal(s) worn
No current in the socket
Electrical extension cords defective
Switch or capacitor defective.
Valve is not opened owing to the
connection parts loosening
Control Levers or Connection parts
bent.
Lower hydraulic oil level
REMEDY SUGGESTED
Refer to" Log Splitter
Operation" section for proper
log loading.
Reduce the log sizes before
splitting on the log splitter.
Refer to" Sharpening the
Wedge" section to sharpen the
cutting edge.
Locate leak(s) and contact the
dealer.
Contact the dealer.
Check oil level for possible
oil refilling. Contact the
dealer.
Loosen dipstick cap by few
turns before operating the log
splitter
Tighten the dipstick cap before
moving the log splitter.
Tighten the oil drain plug.
Contact the dealer
Check mains fuse
Unplug, check and replace.
Check by qualified engineer
Check and tighten the parts.
Repair the bent parts
Check and refill hydraulic oil.
