Recommedation: For normal use, limit working hours to a minimum with rest period in-between
(example: take 10 minutes break after a work time of 60 minutes).
5.3- Before operating the log splitter
Check the oil level and refill as required before use.
1. Familiarize yourself with the controls and features of the log splitter (refer to the illustrations).
2. The oil dipstick cap should be loosened with some turns until air can go in and out of the oil tank
smoothly. Air flow through the hole should be detectable during the log splitter is under operations.
Failure to loosen the dipstick cap will trap air in the hydraulic system.
The air could be compressed and decompressed, such continuous air compression
and decompression will blow out the seals of the hydraulic system and cause
permanent damage to the log splitter.
3. Before moving the log splitter, make sure the dipstick cap is tightened to avoid oil leaking from
this point.
4. Plan your work site.
- Work safely and save effort by planning your work beforehand.
- Organize your logs for splitting in a tudy manner that they can be easily reached.
- Have a site located to stack the split wood or load it onto a nearby truck or another carrier.
5. Prepare the logs for splitting.
- Optimal deminsion of logs:
- length: 30-55cm
- diameter: 7-40cm.
- Split the log in the direction of the grain.
6. Apply a thin coat of grease to the surfaces of the cutting wedge before operation, it helps to
increase the durability of the wedge.
7. Route the power cord.
- Route the cord from the power source to the splitter in a way that safeguards against tripping on
the cord, or the cord becoming damaged during the work session.
- Protect the power cord from impacts, pulling or corrosive materials.
8. Open the dipstick cap.
- Loosen the dipstick cap with a few turns whenever the splitter is being used.
- Retighten this cover when you finished.
9. While operating under extremely low temperature (e.g. below 5°C), let the log splitter run under
no load for 5-10 minutes to preheat the hydraulic oil.
10. Reminder: The log splitter is strictly designed for one-man operation. Never allow more than
one person to approach and work on the machine at the same time.
5.4- Placing the log on the splitter
- Prepare the wood to be split by pre-cutting it to the maximum cutting capacity of the splitter and
make sure that the wood is cut straight. Put the wood on the log table so as not to endanger you
(e.g. tripping hazard).
a) Place the log vertically and sitting flat onto the log table. Be sure the wedge and log table will
contact the log squarely on both ends. Never attempt to split a log at an angle. Never split horizontally
or crosswise. Never stack multiple logs for splitting on the log table.
b) Lower the wedge to a distance 5cm~10cm (min/max) above the log.
c) Secure log with the holding devices.
