Always install the control horns 90 degrees to the servo center line. Use sub-trim as a last resort to center the servos.
Always re-bind the radio system once all the control throws are set to keep the servos from moving to their endpoints
until the transmitter and receiver connect.

ADVANCED SETTINGS

Crow Braking
This is where both ailerons are defl ected upward in conjunction with downward fl ap defl ection. This is a high drag fl ight
profi le that is very effective in reducing speed. The upward ailerons create considerably more drag, while inducing a
huge amount of washout at the wing tips resulting in a fl atter stall. When the stall does occur, it is usually deeper and
requires more height to recover from than the non-crow confi guration. Keep this in mind and get used to the handling
of the plane in crow confi guration at a comfortable height which allows switching off crow and recovering the model.
We advise not mixing full up aileron movement with fl ap until you are fully familiar with how the plane handles when in
crow confi guration. Start with small amounts of upward aileron and increase those values as you become comfortable.
Remember the upward ailerons create drag as well as reduce the roll effectiveness.
Snap Flap
This can be used to increase the agility and reduce the looping and turning radius of the Timber 110. This mix adds
fl ap input (inboard fl aps only, we do not advise full span fl ap to be used) when elevator is applied. When up elevator is
applied, both fl aps move downward in conjunction with the elevator, increasing the lift of the wing and pitch response.
When down elevator input is applied the fl aps are raised, decreasing lift and increase the pitch response.

MIXING

Flap to Elevator Compensation
There is no precise number for down trim required when fl aps are applied. This can vary slightly from plane to plane
and certain set ups. Use the measurements provided as a starting point and adjust as necessary.
3
With takeoff fl ap set at 1
/
inches (30mm), mix in 3/8-inch (10mm) of down elevator
16
With landing fl ap set at 3
15
/
inches (100mm), mix in 1-inch (25mm) of down elevator
16
A fl ight mode setting is very useful for this aspect of set up as it allows trim inputs in various fl ap stages while in fl ight.
This allows for in-fl ight adjustments and not having to land to adjust via trial and error. Most modern computer radios
can trim various fl ap settings.
Knife Edge Mix
Like the fl ap to elevator mix, these numbers vary from plane to plane and different set ups. We found our Timber 110
required zero elevator mix to rudder when in knife edge fl ight. The aileron mix to rudder was small, in the region of
10% opposite aileron to rudder, required to maintain a straight knife edge. Due to the effective and powerful rudder of
the Timber 110, it is almost impossible to mix out all the coupling when large amounts of defl ection are input.

PREFLIGHT CHECKLIST
• Charge the transmitter, receiver and motor batteries. Follow the instructions provided with the charger. Follow all
manufacturer's instructions for your electronic components.
• Check the radio installation and make sure all control surfaces (aileron, elevator, rudder, and fl aps) move correctly
(i.e., the correct direction and with the recommended throws).
• Check all the hardware (control horns, servo horns, and clevises) to make sure they are secure and in good condition.
• Prior to each fl ying session (and especially with a new model), perform a range check of your radio system. See your
radio manual for the recommended range and instructions for your particular radio system.

DAILY FLIGHT CHECKS

• Check the battery voltage of the transmitter battery. Do not fl y below the manufacturer's recommended voltage.
Doing so can cause your aircraft to crash.
• Check all hardware (linkages, screws, nuts, and bolts) prior to each day's fl ight. Ensure that binding does not occur
and that all parts are properly secured.
• Ensure all surfaces are moving in the proper manner.
• Perform a ground range check before each day's fl ying session.
• All servo leads and switch harness plugs should be secured in the receiver.
