Nordforest Mechanical Titan 80 Felling Wedge
Felling trees
Risk of damage to the Nordforest Titan 80 Mechanical Felling
Wedge!
The shaft drive is mechanically limited. Once the full extension length
of the lifting wedge has been reached, the ratchet may no longer be
turned anti-clockwise. This can result in damage to the Nordforest
Titan 80 Mechanical Felling Wedge.
›
Never turn the ratchet against a resistance.
›
Never turn the ratchet by brute force (max. 200 Nm/~50 kg).
›
Never extend the ratchet.
›
When the ratchet reaches the stop, turn the ratchet a half
revolution clockwise so that the extended lifting wedge jams.
›
Make sure there are no persons or objects in the felling area.
›
Give a verbal warning by for example calling out "Look out!
Timber!"
›
Turn the ratchet anti-clockwise.
The special plastic lifting wedge is pushed forward and gradually
causes the tree to fall.
›
Keep driving the safety wedge forward until the tree falls.
›
Leave the danger zone quickly.
›
Monitor the tree top and neighbouring trees.
›
Wait in a safe area until the tree is lying on the ground and there are
no other dangers e.g. due to falling branches.
If the full extension length has been reach and the tree has still not
fallen, the Nordforest Titan 80 Mechanical Felling Wedge must be
reinserted. In this case, proceed as follows:
›
Secure the tree with sufficiently high safety wedges.
›
Turn the ratchet clockwise to retract the lifting wedge again.
›
Reinsert the Nordforest Titan 80 Mechanical Felling Wedge and
repeat the lifting process by turning the ratchet anti-clockwise.
