Operating the Nordforest Titan 80 Mechanical Felling Wedge
Right!
This is how to incorrectly insert the Nordforest Titan 80 Mechanical
Felling Wedge.
• Root buttresses cut back.
• Symmetrical "beak cut".
• Nordforest Titan 80 Mechanical Felling Wedge inserted at least up to
sixth tooth row (see marking).
• Wedge inserted in felling cut symmetrically (90° to trunk).
• Wedge securely grips in wood.
Wrong!
• Asymmetrical "beak cut" (to top or bottom).
• Wedge not centred in felling cut.
Consequence: Lifting wedge and spindle placed under oblique load.
Damage to spindle, drive nut and lifting wedge.
Wrong!
• Root buttresses not cut back.
• Wedge placed under pressure from below from root buttresses. This
means that the wedge is pressed into the felling cut at an increasing
angle.
Consequence: Damage to spindle, drive nut and lifting wedge.
Wrong!
• Saw edge by chain saw chain in beak cut (above or below possible).
• Wedge is pressed over the cutting edge due to insufficient projection.
• Oblique loading of lifting wedge.
Consequence: Damage to spindle, drive nut and lifting wedge.
