Installation Instructions:
Electrical System for Towing Hitch
Installing the electrical kit
1. Remove the ignition key and wait five minutes before disconnecting the minus line from the
battery terminal before disconnecting other connections.
2. If required, take out the spare wheel.
3. If necessary, remove the following covers and panels:
Luggage compartment bottom covering
-
Rear end plate covering
-
Battery covering
-
Right and left tail light coverings
-
4. Remove the rubber grommet provided on the vehicle and push it on the cable harness. Adapt
the line length.
5. Starting in the luggage compartment, lead the socket end of the cable harness through the
cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/6) to the outside to the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/5).
6. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/6).
Installing the socket
7. Fit the socket gasket and connect the cable harness to the socket housing in accordance with
the pin assignment plan (Fig. 1/5) and push the rubber grommet against the socket.
8. Screw the socket onto the holding plate (Fig. 1/5) using the supplied screws and nuts.
9. Secure the cable harness using cable ties.
Connecting the tail lights
10. Lay the cable end marked "right" to the right-hand tail light (Fig. 1/8) and the cable end
marked "left" to the left-hand tail light (Fig. 1/1).
11. Unplug the connectors from the tail lights and connect them to their counterparts on the cable
harness. Plug the residual plug back into the tail light. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into
place.
Connecting the trailer control module
12. Plug the 12-pin plug and the 18-pin plug into the trailer control module.
13. Secure the trailer control module (Fig. 1/3) to the battery compartment using some velcro
tape.
14. Connect the brown wires with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/7).
15. Using the 3-pin connector for the constant plus extension kit (Fig. 1/4), the functions "Charge
lead" and "Ground for charge lead" can be retrofitted.
Note
The constant plus line on pin 9 of the socket is integrated into the cable set.
