10 Faults, causes and remedies
WARNING! Electrical shock hazard
Dangers caused by electrical energy must be
excluded.
All electrical work must be performed after the
electrical supply has been switched off and
secured against unauthorized switching.
WARNING! Risk of scalding
At high water temperatures and system pressure
close isolating valves before and after the pump.
First, allow pump to cool down.
FAULTS
10.1 THE PUMP FAILS TO OPERATE
10.2 THE PUMP RUNS BUT PROVIDES IN
SUFFICIENT FLOW AND/OR PRES-
SURE
10.3 THE PUMP DELIVERS UNEVENLY
10.4 THE PUMP VIBRATES OR IS NOISY
10.5 THE MOTOR OVERHEATS AND ITS
PROTECTION TRIPS OUT
If the fault cannot be remedied, please contact
your local sanitary and heating specialist or WILO
customer services.

PROBABLE CAUSE
a) No power:
b) The thermistor tripping device has
tripped out, cutting off power:
a) Wrong direction of rotation:
b) Pipe obstructed by foreign material:
c) Parts of the pump are obstructed by
foreign material:
d) Air in suction pipe:
e) Suction pipe too narrow:
f) The valve is not open far enough:
a) Air in pump:
a) Foreign material in pump:
b) Pump not properly attached to its
base-plate:
c) Bearing damaged:
a) A phase is open-circuit:
b) The pump is hard to operate: foreign
material in pump:
c) The pump is hard to operate: bearing
damaged:
d) Ambient temperature too high:
REMEDY
a) Check the fuses, the wiring, and the
connectors.
b) Eliminate any cause of overloading of
the motor.
a) Check the direction of rotation of the
motor and correct it if necessary.
b) Check and clean the pipe.
c) Have Customer Service examine the
pump.
d) Make the suction pipe airtight.
e) Install a larger suction pipe.
f) Open the valve properly.
a) Evacuate the air in the pump; check
that the suction pipe is airtight.
a) Have Customer Service remove the
foreign material.
b) Retighten the anchor bolts.
c) Call Customer Service.
a) Check the fuses, the wiring, and the
connectors.
b) Have Customer Service clean the
pump.
c) Have Customer Service repair the
pump.
d) Provide cooling.
