25 mm (1") nipple should be fitted as low as possible. Fit the
nipples as follows:
Draw the hole with a ball-point
pen, use the ring as stencil.
The diameter is 42 mm (1
not make the hole too large!
Use scissors to cut the hole in the
tank. Do not cut into the oppo-
site tank wall!
Fit the connector nipple into the
tank.
Fit the ring and nut. Tighten the
nut with the spanner, never use
water pump pliers. Do not tighten
too hard.
After 2 days, check that the nuts
are still secure; tighten up again if
necessary. Repeat this again after
4 days.

Tank Connections
Connect the tank up with good quality reinforced fuel-resistant
hose. Avoid sharp kinks in the hose and ensure there is suffi-
cient play to follow the expansion of the tank, from empty to full.

Fit the filler cap A.
The filler cap supplied with the Vetus filler kit (Art. code
FTOKIT) is NOT suitable for fitting in the deck.
When a filler cap is fitted on deck, fuel can overflow when
filling and spill on the deck. This can be prevented by
installing a Vetus fuel overflow E between the filler cap A and
the tank. Consult the related instructions for fitting a Vetus fuel
overflow.
Fit a filler hose B, internal diameter 38 mm., between the filler
cap and the tank. Install this hose such that the filler cap is not
subject to mechanical loads and the hose can follow the move-
ment of the tank.
Fit the air-relief valve C as high up as possible, above the level
of the top of the tank.
WARNING
!
Choose a position for the air relief such that if fuel leaks out,
it cannot get into the ship!
Unpleasant diesel fuel smells can escape via the air-relief
valve. This can be prevented by installing an active charcoal
filter (Vetus Odour Filter F) in the air-relief pipe D. Consult the
relevant instructions for installing the Vetus odour filter.
Fit the air-relief pipe D, internal diameter 16 mm., between
tank and air-relief nipple.
When viewed from the tank. the air-relief pipe should always be
fitted so that it runs upwards.
